Nedumkandam

Nedumkandam grama panchayat develop a hilltop on Pappinimedu as a science park for which nearly three acres of land has been earmarked. The hilltop provides a clear view of the wind farms at Ramakkalmedu,Pushpakandam in addition to the aerial view of the nearby areas.
Now the areas are open for viewing for public with pass.A telescope unit at the hilltop is attracting crowds especially students from various educational institutions in the district.The grama panchayat has spent lot of money for setting up a watch tower and the telescope is powerful enough to watch the stars clearly.The telescope has an auto tracking system with 11 inch lens to provide a clear view of the galaxy and the stars that cannot be traced by an ordinary telescope.The telescope is open for public on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday. A science museum will also be set up.

Ramakkalmedu
Ramakkalmedu is a hill station and a hamlet in Idukki district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is located about 15 km from Nedumkandom on the Munnar-Thekkady route. It provides a panoramic view of Tamil Nadu villages and towns. It is the proposed site for power generation using winds. It belives that or there is a folk-tale that lord 'Sree Rama', the Hindu mythological God had set his foot on this rock and hence the name Rama-Kal-Medu (Meaning: Rama's foot imprints).
MAIN FEATURES

- Studies have shown that Ramakkalmedu is the most suitable place for setting up the farm, as the area is blessed with uninterrupted and high velocity wind during the season. Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan inaugurated the first wind farm in Idukki, set up at Ramakkalmedu with private participation, at a function to be held in Thookkupalam on 27th April 2008. Seven wind farm units have started supply of power to the KSEB's Kallar sub-station.
- The main feature of this hill is that, tourists can reach there by foot or by vehicle. Parking area is also available there. Vehicles are not allowed to enter in to the statue compound. From this site, we can see the Ramakkalmedu Wind Energy Farm.
- The wind farm was set up after a survey of the wind path and its velocity. With more power units to come up in the area, the total power generated will be marginally increased. All the units have started supplying power to the Kerala State Electricity Board's (KSEB) Kallar sub-station, 17 km away from the installed area.
Idukki Dam
In the heart of the District lies the IDUKKI DAM-Asia's biggest Arch Dam of 555 feet height proudly standing between the two mountains 'Kuravanmala'-839 meters and 'Kurathimala' (925 meters ). This prestigeous project of our nation is situated in Idukki District and its underground Power House is located at Moolamattom which is about 19 kms from Thodupuzha. Idukki Dam is 43 kms away from Moolamattom.
